ME SANI, who’s sani?

by Feliz Eykenloof

ME

ME stands for Marissa Eykenloof, the designer, creator and mastermind behind this jewelry line. It all started in 1999 when Marissa was gifted a set with beads to get creative with. This hobby quickly turned into an addiction and before she knew it, Marissa was a regular customer at the local bead shop. Her family and friends loved her custom made beads so much, she received more and more requests to make necklaces and bracelets. Her obsession kept growing and her hunger was insatiable. At the end of 2013 she woke up and she knew: Marissa Eykenloof is starting her own jewelry line.

SANI

Marissa Eykenloof her roots are grounded in South-America. In a land far far away which borders Brasil on the south side and the Atlantic ocean in the north. Today, this land rich of gold, oil and bauxite is called Surinam. ‘Sani’ is a word coming directly from the Surinamese language, also called Sranantongo. Literally translated it means ‘stuff or items’.

ME Sani = The items of and from Marissa Eykenloof

Besides being an abbreviation for MARISSA EYKENLOOF, ME is also the subject of a little word joke. ME stands for ‘mine’ or ‘my.’

ME Sani = My items

So dear reader, if you own any of the ME Sani collection you are wearing something from Marissa Eykenloof for yourself.

Kisses en tan bun (stay well)

Surinam
